Rootstock Description: A dwarf rootstock for European and Asian Pears, OHxF 513 rootstock produces trees 10-12 ft. in height. It induces early bearing and is hardy to approx. minus 25°F. OHxF 513 grows well in most soils.
Pollination: Plant at least two varieties for cross-pollination. Asian Pears can be used as pollinators, but the Chinese varieties often bloom too early to be effective.
Pests & Diseases: Our pear varieties show good disease resistance. We occasionally see damage from Codling Moth but harvest good crops every year from all of our varieties without spraying.
Hardiness: European Pears are hardy to approx. minus 25°F.
