Also known as Korean Giant or Olympic, this very large and high quality fruit grows as large as a grapefruit, these sweet, crisp and juicy, light brown pears can weigh more than a pound. Large Korean bears abundant crops of delicious and attractive fruit which ripen in early October.

Latin Name: Pyrus pyrifolia

Class: Japanese Varieties

Size at Maturity: 10-12 ft.

Rootstock Description: A vigorous and very productive rootstock for Asian Pears, P. bet produces trees 10'-12' in height. P. bet is hardy to minus 10°F or below and grows well in both heavy and light soils.

Pollination: For best crops plant at least two Asian Pear varieties or one Asian Pear and an early blooming European variety like Ubileen or Rescue.

Pests & Diseases: Asian Pears are generally quite disease resistant and easy to grow. Except for occasional problems with Codling Moth, we have also not experienced significant insect problems with our varieties.

Hardiness: Asian Pears are hardy to minus 25°F Varieties on P. bet rootstock should only be grown in regions where temperatures do not fall below minus 10°F.

Bearing Age: 1-2 yrs.

Bloom Time: Early April

Ripening Time: Early October

Yield: 50+ lbs.
